The Colgate Inn, located not far from the Colgate University campus in Hamilton, NY, was a comprehensive rehabilitation and preservation project involving the complete interior and exterior renovation and several additions to the historic 87-year-old, 35,000sqft Inn. Work was performed to repair, modernize, and enhance the Inn for both visitors and staff while maintaining and protecting its historic character. In all, 40 guest rooms were renovated, along with meeting space, a kitchen, and indoor and outdoor dining spaces.

Several structural deficiencies were discovered and had to be corrected before construction could continue, which caused numerous delays and schedule shifts. A large addition was built on the rear of the building, which included a new service loading dock, service elevator, and mechanical space. Another addition was built to include a new handicap entrance, parlor, and new restrooms. The reconfiguration of spaces and new building additions allow for a circulation plan that improves the existing and makes hospitality spaces more efficient, yet less visible.
