JMA Wireless Dome Experience Rennovation

Syracuse, NY

Client: Syracuse University

Size: 470,000 sq. ft.

The JMA Wireless Dome seat replacement modernized one of the most iconic venues in college athletics, giving the 45-year-old facility a long-overdue upgrade to spectator comfort and accessibility. Hayner Hoyt replaced more than 43,000 original aluminum bench seats with new wider, flip-up seating throughout the bowl, dramatically improving circulation, sightlines, and fan experience for Syracuse University athletics events and the full slate of concerts, commencements, and community gatherings the Dome hosts each year.

The scope also included installation of a state-of-the-art smoke evacuation system, a major life-safety upgrade that brings the venue in line with current standards for an arena of its size. The seat replacement continues Hayner Hoyt’s long-running partnership with Syracuse University at the Dome, following the landmark roof replacement that transformed the building’s profile in 2020. Together, these projects are helping reposition the JMA Wireless Dome as a modern, world-class venue while preserving the character of a building deeply woven into the fabric of the University and Central New York.
