Carmelo K. Anthony Center at Syracuse University
Syracuse, NY
The Carmelo K. Anthony Center stands as one of the premier practice facilities in college basketball, and Hayner Hoyt delivered it for one of the most storied programs in the sport. Sited adjacent to Manley Field House, the project demanded extensive site work to integrate the new building into a tight, established corner of the Syracuse University athletic campus. The facility was constructed with a steel frame wrapped in an aluminum and fiberglass curtain wall system, creating a striking modern presence worthy of the program it houses.
Inside, the 54,000-square-foot complex centers on two NCAA regulation courts finished in first-grade maple, supported by dedicated weight, training, and hydrotherapy rooms, men’s and women’s locker rooms, coaches’ suites, a study room, and a Hall of Fame celebrating Syracuse basketball history. The facility serves both the men’s and women’s programs, and sustainability measures were built into the design to achieve LEED-certifiable status. Delivered through a design-build partnership with King + King Architects, the project was completed on time and under budget – a result that speaks for itself.
